My Source Energy, LLC

DEREGULATION HISTORY

In 1996, Texas was the first state to operate the nation’s first electric utility industry ISO (ERCOT) in the United States. Three years later, the Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 7 which required the creation of a competitive retail electricity market to give customers the ability to choose their retail electric providers. In June 2001, when the deregulation pilot program officially kicked off, there was unprecedented confusion in the market. Businesses of all sizes and residential customers alike were struggling to understand what utility choice really meant to them and what their options were. There were many "shady" brokers and electric companies popping up everywhere trying to cash in on this new frontier which lead to more confusion and bad experiences thereby giving energy brokers a bad reputation.  Unfortunately, some of this still exists today.

COMMERCIAL AND RESIDENTIAL ENERGY BROKERS

WHAT IS AN ENERGY BROKER?

My Source Energy, LLC is an energy brokerage company founded in 2006. Energy brokers provide access to multiple electric and natural gas suppliers which allows us to typically provide rates much faster and at a more agreeable rate than if a consumer were to shop for rates on their own.  Energy rates can change daily, and since prices must be compared on the same day, this is a very useful service to our clients.

Energy brokers do not own or distribute energy nor are we allowed to sell energy directly to you. We simply present the rates of many Retail Electric Providers (REPs).  Our fees are paid by the REP whom the customer chooses and not by the customers themselves.

Most companies and individuals do not know that there are many nuances to the electricity contract, and it is imperative that rates are compared on an apples-to-apples basis.  There are also several "buckets" of electricity that a customer could fall into, each one having a different energy rate, so we ensure that you are getting the best rate possible for your specific usage. We also let you know at each contract end date that your product is about to expire, and we research the market at that time on your behalf to see if better deals can be found. The one thing you don't want to do is let your contract expire and get caught in a month-to-month rate...those are the highest!

Choosing an REP can be a very frustrating, time consuming, and arduous task to undertake.

Let us do the legwork for you so you can focus on something more enjoyable!
